EQUALITY, DIVERSITY, AND INCLUSION

Doncaster Town Cricket Club (DTCC) is fully committed to the principles of Equality, Diversity and Inclusion of opportunity in cricket, and to ensuring that its employees, members and all other individuals working or volunteering for DTCC and participating in or watching DTCC’s activities are treated fairly and are able to conduct their activities free from discrimination, harassment or intimidation. DTCC aims to provide a safe, positive experience and creating a culture where people can thrive irrespective of gender, ethnicity, disability, or background.

At DTCC we believe that everyone should be able to say “cricket is a game for me”.

The club will comply with the requirements of the Equality Act 2010 and shall take all reasonable steps to ensure that its employees, members, and volunteers adhere to these requirements and this policy. There are eight protected characteristics that apply, and these are:

  1. Disability
  2. Sex (gender)
  3. Age
  4. Gender reassignment
  5. Race (ethnicity)
  6. Religion or belief (faith)
  7. Pregnancy and maternity
  8. Sexual orientation (LGBT)

DTCC will do this by:

  • Ensuring in all its activities it will not discriminate, or in any way treat anyone less favourably on the grounds of any protected characteristics.
  • Ensuring individuals working within cricket at, or for, our club provide a welcoming, safe, and fun experience for children
  • Not tolerating harassment, bullying, abuse or victimisation of any individuals.
  • Endeavouring to create access and opportunities for all those individuals who wish to participate, and are lawfully eligible to participate, in its activities.
  • Ensuring all people involved at DTCC (such as staff, officials, volunteers, team managers, coaches, players and spectators) are aware of the clubs policies on Inclusion and Diversity.
  • Having a committee member with responsibility for ensuring this policy is put into practice.
  • Adopting and implementing the England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) relevant policies and procedures.
  • Ensuring all people involved at DTCC (such as staff, officials, volunteers, team managers, coaches, players and spectators) are aware of their surroundings and implications of their actions, words, gestures and the like.

The club will also adhere by the 2021 ECB code. This ECB Anti-Discrimination Code (the Code) is part of the ECB’s continuing efforts to maintain the integrity, diversity and inclusivity of cricket. It will be a breach of this Code for any Participant to:

1.1      act in any manner, make any omission, or engage in any conduct, which does, or is likely to, offend, insult, humiliate, intimidate, threaten, disparage and/or vilify any reasonable person, or group of people, based on, or by reference to, any Protected Characteristic; and/or

1.2      make any decision or any omission or do anything which might reasonably be deemed to discriminate against any person, or group of people, or to disadvantage that individual or group based on any Protected Characteristic unless permitted by law; and/or

1.3      fail to provide an effective, timely and proportionate response to an alleged breach under paragraphs 1.1 and/or 1.2 above, carried out by any individual or organisation under the jurisdiction of the Participant. (in instances where the Participant is an organisation)
